Letter to the editor: The log in Klugg's eye

Alan Klugg’s May 1 letter is full of unsupported accusations. He implied that Ginger Trapanotto’s April 17 letter called Republicans “racist,” “sexist,” and “misogynist.” She never used those words and never made that charge, although Klugg did—against Democrats.
Without offering a shred of evidence, Klugg said Kamala Harris has a “drinking problem” and NY Attorney General Letitia James brought “fake charges against Trump” but “now has REAL charges against her.”
The “drinking problem” smear comes from a doctored video slowed down to make it appear that Harris slurred her words. Newsweek’s articles: “Kamala Harris ‘Drinking Problem’ Rumors Are Being Spread by Republicans,” and “Fact Check: Kamala Harris 'Hammered' Video Was Edited” reveal the truth…the video’s creator admitted it was doctored.
Trump was convicted unanimously by twelve jurors after due process and a full and fair trial. CBS’ story, “New York Attorney General Letitia James accused of possible mortgage fraud” reveals that it is Republicans who are engaging in “lawfare.” Trump’s handpicked Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, William Pulte, wrote to Trump’s handpicked U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, asking her to prosecute James. The last sentence of the article makes clear that, contrary to Klugg’s false accusation, “James has not been charged with anything.”
Since Trump rode down the (fake) golden escalator in 2015, we have been inundated with Republican lies. The Washington Post documented 30,573 false or misleading statements by Trump during his first term. Fox News paid $787 million after falsely claiming that Dominion Voting Systems rigged the 2020 election. Rudy Giuliani was ordered to pay $146 million for falsely accusing two election workers of election fraud.
“Why is it,” Klugg asked, that Democrats “can’t utter a single word of truth?” “Why is it,” I ask, that Klugg can’t heed the words of truth in Matthew 7:3-5: “Why look at the speck in your brother’s eye when you’ve got a log in your own?”
