For Immediate Release, March 20, 2026

The Brunswick County Democratic Party is hosting its third “No Kings” protest on Saturday, March 28 from 1:30-3 p.m. at Main Street and Smith Avenue in Shallotte.

“We’re expecting a large turnout given that close to 2,000 concerned citizens joined us last fall to peacefully voice their strong opposition to the policies of the Trump Administration,” said Shelley Allen, chair of the Brunswick County Democratic Party (BCDP). “Given this administration’s appalling record since then, we’re expecting an even greater number this time, as more and more people are resisting Trump’s anti-democratic policies and his MAGA-led Congress.”

Allen noted thousands of rallies and protests are planned for March 28 across the nation and beyond, giving people an opportunity to express their outrage over MAGA’s relentless efforts to cripple democracy, our freedoms, and our livelihoods.

“The Trump-led rampage against our federal workers, farmers, veterans, the poor, the sick, people of color, women, and our Constitution must be met head-on and overcome,” Allen said. “Participating in peaceful local rallies like ours provides a much-needed outlet for venting their frustrations.”

The March 28 BCDP protest in Shallotte will be standing only (no seating provided). Sidewalks extending in all four directions from the intersection of Smith and Main offer excellent opportunities for sign-carrying protesters to exercise their First Amendment rights.

BCDP has obtained a permit for the rally, and the Shallotte Police Department will be present to provide security.

“All like-minded members of the public are invited to join us,” Allen said. “As with our previous protests and rallies, we urge citizens to come with signs and strong voices to peacefully express their frustrations with MAGA’s dreadful leadership and lies.”

“The corruption must be stopped, and our constitution must be honored,” Allen said. “Once again, we say no thrones, no crowns and no kings!”
