The Brunswick County Democratic Party (BCDP) is pleased to announce its third annual Community Heroes EXPO, an event to promote the work of charitable and advocacy organizations in our area.
To be held on Saturday, October 11, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., the EXPO is a great way to introduce the public to the wide range of services and support our county’s non-profit organizations provide. BCDP is making its Bolivia headquarters (1420 Old Ocean Hwy) available to these groups to help them promote their goals and achievements.
“We’re proud of the excellent work charitable and advocacy groups perform every day in Southeastern North Carolina,” said BCDP Chair Shelley Allen. “Their accomplishments deserve our continuing attention, gratitude and support. They are truly community heroes.”
More than 20 organizations have agreed to table at the Heroes EXPO, including several first-time exhibitors, Allen said. The groups attending provide a wide range of services for our county’s residents, including housing, food, and health assistance; animal rescue; environmental care; and more. “They’ll have an opportunity to promote their activities, recruit new volunteers from an excellent base of publicly minded citizens, and educate our community about their missions, accomplishments and needs,” Allen said.
The event is free and open to the public. “It’s our way of helping to spread the word about the work non-profits are doing on behalf of all Brunswick County citizens,” Allen said. “We’re looking forward to welcoming attendees on October 11.”
