Marjorie Taylor Greene says "MAGA was a lie"

Marjorie Taylor Greene was one of Trump’s fiercest defenders.

When she first ran for Congress, Trump tweeted, “Congratulations to future Republican Star Marjorie Taylor Greene. Marjorie is strong on everything and never gives up — a real WINNER!” When Greene ran for reelection in 2022, Trump called her “a fantastic person. She’s been with me in good times and bad times.” 

Then Trump dismissed the Epstein case as a “hoax.” He brushed off the involvement he and his appointees had with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein—who can forget the lewd birthday card Trump sent Epstein?

After Greene spoke with several Epstein victims, she pushed Trump to release all the Epstein files. Trump yelled at Greene, who told Trump she couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t release them. Trump replied, “My friends will get hurt.”

Greene said Trump’s coverup represented “everything wrong with Washington — rich, powerful elites doing horrible things and getting away with it. And the women are the victims.”

She admitted she was “naive” to believe Trump would help average Americans. Instead, she realized, Trump serves “big donors” who funnel cash to pet projects, including Trump’s inauguration and presidential ballroom. She accused Trump of betraying his “campaign promises of No More Foreign Wars/No More Regime Change.” 

Greene warned that the problem isn’t Trump’s advisors — it’s Trump himself. “People always think, ‘Oh, it’s his staff.’ They want to blame everyone around him,” she said. “There may be a point where people have to come to grips with — ‘this IS Donald Trump.’”

Greene called Trump’s defenders “cult fools” who have been brainwashed. “People watching Fox News are the most brainwashed generation. They eat that crap up all day long. They’re spoon-fed the propaganda on TV.” 

Greene hopes those days are over: “I don’t know how the political-industrial complex is going to continue to brainwash Americans ’cuz we’re just not brainwashed anymore. I think people are realizing MAGA was all a lie.”
