Letter to the editor: Trump’s Epstein cover-up makes MAGA mega mad

First published in the Brunswick Beacon, 03.19.26

On Feb. 21, 2025, one month after Trump’s inauguration, Fox News host John Roberts interviewed Attorney General Pam Bondi. He asked if Bondi would release “the list of Jeffrey Epstein’s clients.” Bondi replied, “It’s sitting on my desk right now to review.”

That’s why Americans reacted with shock and disbelief when Bondi released an unsigned two-page memo on July 7, 2025, saying the FBI had “combed through” over “ten thousand downloaded videos and images of illegal child sex abuse material” only to find — lo and behold — no “client list!”

Within days, Trump called the Epstein case a “Democrat hoax” and said, “I don’t understand” why his supporters “would be so interested.”

On Feb. 11, 2026, the House Judiciary Committee questioned Bondi. Representative Jerry Nadler (D-NY) asked her point-blank, “How many of Epstein’s co-conspirators have you indicted? How many perpetrators are you even investigating?” Bondi feigned outrage at the question: “The Dow is over 50,000! The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records! That’s what we should be talking about!”

If you think that makes sense, congratulations — you could be Trump’s next attorney general. He’s going to need one because MAGA didn’t buy it.

MAGA Podcaster Tim Dillon played Bondi’s answer for his 1 million subscribers, then mocked its absurdity. “Who cares if we kidnapped their children? What does it matter? The Dow is up! Who cares if we snatch your kids and take them to an island to abuse them? The Dow is up!”

Shawn Ryan, with 5.8 million MAGA subscribers, was less polite: “You’re going to protect pedophiles rather than go after them and hope that everybody’s happy that the Dow hit 50,000? Are you f---ing out of your mind?”

Joe Rogan, MAGA’s mightiest mic with 20 million subscribers, said, “This is not a hoax.” Then he asked the question that haunts Americans: “If you’re not protecting victims … then who are you protecting?”
