Letter to the editor: Lipstick on a pig

Thanks to the current occupant of the White House, we have a paved-over Rose Garden, a tacky, gold-infested Oval Office and a demolished East Wing.

Note: The East Wing was leveled after Trump vowed this about his ballroom: “It won’t interfere with the current building. It’ll be near it but not touching it. And pays total respect to the existing building, which I’m the biggest fan of. It’s my favorite.”

We also apparently have plenty of taxpayer dollars to spare for endless golf trips and a billion-dollar retrofit of a foreign plane “gifted” to serve as Air Force 1.

Speaking of aeronautics, the President of the United States recently posted an AI video of himself. He’s wearing a crown and a doltishly positioned oxygen mask as he’s flying a fighter jet labeled “King Trump” and dumping excrement on Americans. He has also shamelessly snuffled up to the taxpayer’s trough, again, to demand the Justice Department reimburse him $230 million in personal legal fees.

Meanwhile, his MAGA minions have shut down the government and ushered in rising costs and shrinking wallets for everyone but the oligarchs they serve. Affordable healthcare, SNAP (food assistance for low-income families) and pay for essential federal workers — like air traffic controllers and National Guard troops — are being reduced or eliminated. Republicans control the White House, Senate, House of Representatives and Supreme Court. We all know the blame for this attack on the American people rests squarely on their shoulders.

Let’s honestly consider a popular refrain: Imagine what Republicans and Fox News talking heads would have said if Obama or Biden had utterly destroyed the entire East Wing. They would have called it the greatest desecration of the White House since it was torched by the British during the War of 1812!

Trump’s malodorous MAGA administration reeks like the fulsome barnyard of corruption it has become. It’s getting harder each day for his supporters to put lipstick on this pig.
