Democratic women award education grant

On Thursday, June 19th, the Brunswick County Democratic Women (BCDW) held an awards ceremony and reception at BCDP headquarters in honor of the 2025 recipient of their annual Education Grant.

Amy Gabriella Reyes-Delacruz of Sunset Beach was presented with a check for $1000 by BCDW President Eileen Marrone to use in pursuit of her studies. Amy is working toward an Associates Degree in Science at Brunswick Community College. She is also a parishioner at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Shallotte where she has been a volunteer for the scholarship tea and an aide in the 5th grade Faith Formation class. In addition, she has helped with other community events such as Sunset at Sunset and the Strawberry/Wine Festival.

Upon completion of her AS program, Amy plans to transfer to UNC to major in health policy and management . Her goal is to help others and to make a positive impact in her community through a career in public health.
