BCDP Candidate Portal

The Brunswick County Democratic Party has created a one-stop web portal to connect candidates with local voters. Although it appears to be part of the BCDP website, it is a separate site that seamlessly connects to brunswickdem.org. Here, your campaign can post event information and share the latest news without having to access the BCDP website, while voters who are on the BCDP website can access your information and follow your news and events in one convenient location.

 

The following are instructions for accessing the website and posting your information:

Create a free Wix account (skip this step if you already have a Wix account)

  1. Go to www.wix.com.

  2. Click Get Started.

  3. Enter an email address and a password.

Connect to the BCDP Candidate portal

  1. Send the email address you used to open your Wix account to jeffzalles@gmail.com.

  2. Accept an invitation to become a site contributor in an email you will receive within 24 hours.

  3. Log back into your Wix account and you’ll see the Candidate website. If you do not, email jeffzalles@gmail.com to let me know.

Posting an event on the Candidate portal

  1. Login to your Wix account.

  2. Mouse over the website image and click Select Site.

  3. Click Events in the menu on the left side of the screen.

  4. Click +Add Event in the upper right corner.

  5. Fill in the information about the event and post a photo in the box on the right with a + sign in the center. Photos are a good way to highlight your event.

  6. When finished entering information, click Create Event.

  7. Select Registration from the event menu.

  8. Next to Registration Settings, click Edit.

  9. Enter your website address or any other URL pertaining to the event that you wish to direct viewers to. Our website will not process any attendee information.

  10. Click Save in the upper right corner.

  11. Only upcoming events will be displayed on the website’s Events page and will be listed in chronological order.

  12. The soonest upcoming event will also automatically display on the Candidate information page.

Posting a news item on the Candidate portal

  1. Repeat steps 1 and 2 above.

  2. Click Blog in the menu on the left side of the screen.

  3. Click Create New Post in the upper right corner.

  4. Add a title.

  5. In the blog body, you can add photos, videos, links and text by clicking on the + button in the left margin. It is recommended that you have at least one photo or video pertaining to the news item. If you want to feature an article published in a newspaper, for example, you can take a picture of it and place it in the blog body by clicking the camera icon.

  6. When finished, click Publish in the upper right corner.

  7. News items will display in reverse chronological order with the most recent on top.

  8. The two most recent entries will also automatically display on the Candidate information page.
